If you dont have any luck finding a proper barrel vise I might be able to offer some help.

I was given, by another member here, a homemade clamp which sits in a conventional vise. He made himself and due to the nature of the design he ended up with an extra. It worked well enough for me to index my Norinco barrel.

If you'd like to try it out you can have it for free, if you dont mind covering $20 for shipping from hamilton. Of if you're in the area we can arrange a FTF.

I can provide pics if you like.

I wont need it again and it may be worth a shot for you of your like.
