As the title says ...what should I buy for my first ar ..willing to spend between 2-3 grand ...I hear Daniel defence m4v3 is a good option and sigs aswell ....thoughts people ?...cheers Scott

Well, my first AR was a Daniel Defense M4V5 from Wolverine Supplies. I loved that thing, perhaps a little too much becuase I didn't want to butcher it swapping out parts so I sold it to fund a custom build.

For 2-3 grand you can have a wide variety of fine ARs. Currently one of the good value choices are the Windham Weaponry ones going for about 1k each. Depending on what you wanted to do to it that could give you a decent affordable base. Or Daniel Defense is always a good choice.

This was my budget as well and I went for the Noveske.. I got the stainless Recon model and I absolutely love it, the finish and accuracy is top notch. It is a sub moa gun easy. Other brands would be LMT, KAC, PWS if you want piston.. The world is your oyster.

Bushmaster and BCM, Nice and well worth the money!

really stated bushmaster for ar...??

At this level of budget you have many choice

You can go DD, PWS, LMT, ATRS, NOVESKE, BRO and many other I dont mentionned.

But the question is do you want a DI or Piston AR15 and do your budget include the optic.

Anyways u cant go wrong with any brand I said and the best you can do is go at a gun store and handle some and get the one u feel the best with

I agree with most of the companies listed so far.

But keep in mind that you could buy a very good AR, for a little less cash, and then modify it how you want.

or like has been said buy a nice AR, and a nice pistol to go with it.

My favorite AR in my collection in an Armalite M15A4. $1100, it was my first, I just love it.

to be fail I put a surefire quad-rail, vltor stock, and magpul enhanced trigger guard with an ergo grip on it, but it is still an armalite.

Id be looking at $1500 AR's, nice optics, upgrade trigger, upgrade stock and grip... IMO there really is no reason to spend $3000 on your first AR when you still need all these other parts to complete it. I started by building a SUPER budget AR from parts so I understood how it worked. It was a great learning experience and I got all my money out of it when I sold it. What I found during that process was that guns can get nicked and get little bumps and bruises when your learning how they go together so maybe starting with something a little lower than the $3000 range so you can get a fell for the gun would be best. Then, when you understand it and know the tricks you can upgrade to something really nice. I personally landed on a DDM4V5 and I only paid $1400 for it, un fired from the EE...

I should ask here instead of making a new thread? What would you guys suggest for a budget of $1500? Just for the rifle.

I have an NR XCR so I kind of want a 14.5" AR if that makes any sense.

2-3K budget?

Alberta Tactical Rifle, AT15, made in Canada to your personal specification. Not just match grade, but actually matched barrel and bolt.

With that kinda money...a KAC 11.5" from OSTS (about $2800) otherwise I'd say get a DD MK18 (which is roughly $1700). There are better "value" AR's IMO but those 2 will hold their price fairly well if you decide to sell down the road.

Wise words IMHO, though I may suggest going 14.5 or 16 if you want one "all-arounder"...
