Need advices..

i got a colt sporter 20" inch HBAR with birdcage.. and fixed stock.. and i hate the spronggg sound when i fire.. hate the single stage trigger too.

Wanna sell it.

I want to order a new ar15 from who ever...

what is your recommandations?

i want reliability , quality , muzzle flash and collapsible stock.

Customizability is a must.

barrel lenght and twist rate advice please? is a 16" barrel will do the job? what twist rate is the best for accuracy.

up to 1200$

been looking at windham weaponry rifles..

When you say muzzle flash, do you mean you want it to be bigger or smaller?

If bigger, something like a Noveske Flaming Pig might do well. If smaller, an ATRS Eliminator or Smith Vortex might do the trick.

As for everything else, there's about a thousand options for each. 16" barrels are pretty much the norm these days. They'll do the job. So will a 14" and a 10.5" and a 9" and maybe even a 7". It just depends on what jobs you want it to be the best at. Generally the longer the barrel the farther it can comfortably reach out and touch stuff. Although I will admit that your optic plays a huge role in that as well. At 300 meters my AR's red dot completely covers the gong, which really limits my efficacy.

Depending on exigent factors, as Donut mentioned you could try looking in the Wolverine Supplies thread about their DDM4V1 sale today and start PMing people and offering them $1200 for their rifle. Less than normal list price by a good amount, but more than they paid, so you might find someone interested.

Or IRunGuns has the Colt 6920 or somesuch on sale as well.
 
IMHO a Colt from irunguns is the best deal out there now that all the $999 DDs are gone from Wolverine.

14.5 or 16 is best all around length, and 1/7 will let you shoot heavy (75 grain and up) bullets if you're going long....

If you want big flame get a 10.5 and a Troy Medival brake!
 
I'll sell you my 6.5 inch barrel, it shoots a huge fireball out of the muzzle with every trigger pull. It can do about 2moa at 100yds with good ammo.
 
Never known of an AR that couldn't be modified... Don't like rifle stock, buy a carbine extension tube, carbine buffer and spring and Magpul furniture. Don't like 20" barrel then buy a new barrel. Want a quad rail, buy a new one. Hate that TWANG noise then get a JP Enterprise Captured Spring or if too expensive the JP tubed buffer spring and a Twang Buster. Then sell all the parts you upgraded on the EE. Sure as heck cheaper than buying a whole new rifle and taking a loss by selling the current one. But that's just my opinion.

I dont know how it works in my fixed stock. but yeah that must be it. even if its loud makes me think about my 1shot pellet air rifle.

IM A NOOB when it comes to modify AR's never done that before. PEOPLE told me i can't buy another upper that will fit my old COLT lower receiver.

and I cant take off the carrying handle and i dont want to mount on it. it will be to high and UGLY IMO.

So that's why i want to get rid of it. even if it works pretty good.

I want an m4 style platform.

Anyone knows about DPMS rifles? looks good but a lil bit NOT expensive. i think im just going to stick with DD or COLT.

you can get a adapter from brownells to mount a small hole upper to a large hole lower which is what I did. changed the rifle stock to a carbine and was good to go cost about 100$ got the upper in a trade

how much it would cost for a new upper, barrel and stock? + the adapter from brownells?

I dont know why but the price of a new ar comes to mind.

But i really like the idea of gaining experience with the ar platform.
 
You could probably get $1200 +/- for your rifle....check and see what you can buy for $1200 that suits your needs.

I agree—I was in the same boat ten years ago with a Colt HBAR Sporter and went with a new flat-top upper receiver and large hole to small adapter pin and when I wanted to sell it a few years later it was worth less than when it was complete. I know you can get the parts necessary but if I were to do it again I'd sell it "as is" and start fresh with a more modern foundation. $1200 gets you some half-decent ARs...especially if you're willing to go used off the EE.
