INTERNATIONAL HUNTERS

A Non-Resident of Australia Game Licence is available to facilitate game hunting for international visitors and support the commercial hunting and guiding industries. The Non-Resident of Australia Game Licence removes the need for international hunters to pass the Waterfowl Identification Test or Sambar Deer Hunting with Hounds Test.
However, a Non-Resident of Australia Game Licence holder must be under the direct supervision of an adult who holds a valid Game Licence specific to the species being hunted and has passed the required tests.
The Non-Resident of Australia Game Licence is only available to people who reside outside Australia and is restricted to a maximum period of 14 days.

i post this, as as of 2026, we now need to do a "test" style modules online before Reapplying for our Game licenses.
figured may be of interest to you guys

What is that drilling? Brand, model, chambering etc
We don’t see them often with the rifle barrel on top.
It's the Blaser D99 drilling. I reconize it because it appears similar to their S2 double rifle, which I use to own.

And that's the situation switch barrels were invented for. - dan
it iss. an some gunsmiths are doing some switch barrel jobs in prep i think... buttttt, we need to 'register' each 'calibre' i would assume, unless it was under the bed , so to speak.. but then if one was to be caught / checked off premise or during a gun safe inspection, it wouldnt look good?
not sure how that will play out yet.

my state yet to change anything but will hear about that soon.

only NSW (sydney) is the big knee jerk change, that has now passed law.

I have always wondered, are you allowed to hunt public land in Australia? Is there any public land in Australia? I know Texas looks mostly empty on google earth but it is all private property owned by ranchers and farmers. I suspect Aus might be similar.

In the European countries that used to follow this path, the receiver serial number and original caliber/cartridge it was in was the only info required. One of the reasons swithc barrels and drillings became so popular there. - dan

Yes, you're right. The "D" stands for "Drilling" and the model number is correct.

This is a BD 14 stating it's a "BockDrilling" 14.

theres about 8 million hectares to hunt in the South East state of victoria alone. Victoria is the place for public land hunting.
NSW is a book in system but fair amounts of land also.
QLD is private land hunting only.... which is the vast area in the top eastern corner.
WA (western half of Aus) is huge, alot of vastness.... an its realllly bad for gun laws now, as of just recently.
