Electroplated nickel is a very weak finish and will start peeling after the first range trip. Electroless nickel is better but still not as hard as chrome.SLANTO said:I think smoking gun FX in POCO does a nickle electroplating.

It may be different with revolvers, but a friend of mine had factory nickel finish on his CZ-75 and it started peeling after the slide was racked a couple of times.Cocked&Locked said:Not if it is done right, just very few people do. The surface prep is very intensive, and a substrate of brass needs to be plated on first for the nickel to adhere to. Otherwise it will peel. I had a S&W 586 that had had a nickel plate job done by the S&W performance center and it was shiny, and tuff as all get out, never peeled in years.
