As you may or may not know, Blackwater Training Center recently announced a partnership with H&K to provide training on the H&K weapons systems and to promote H&K products.

Part of this is an arrangement to offer training on the various H&K platforms (SMG and Rifle) to ordinary civilians. I just confirmed that yes indeed, civilians are eligible for the training.

Blackwater will actually provide the students with a weapon and a supply of magazines for the Instructor and Operator courses, as well as for the armorer courses.

If you have wanted to get some significant trigger time behind the G36, or the new H&K 416, or the good ol' MP5...This is your opportunity. (Just be aware that the SMG course requires 8,000 rounds. No, that is not a typo.) If you wanted to learn to be an armorer for the mentioned systems (and more) this is your chance too!

You can find course descriptions here:

Many US schools will not train foreign non-mil/LEOs due to DoS regulations.

Have discussed this with several US instructors. It seems as though it is an unwritten law. The US instructors have communicated with the state dept on it. Furthermore their position on this is that they will all continue to train foreigners at their facilities until they recieve written documentation explaining otherwise. Some US instructors have bowed out for fear of later retaliation from the DOJ. Best to check with the school before making assumptions or travel plans! Just passing on what I was told....

Unless it has changed very recently, They will not even train allied militaries unless they have permission from the national command element. I tried to apply for a course. I was told I needed permission by NDHQ.

Why not just go to HK USA?

This is not that far fetched as we think....the DOS governs not just permits for parts and stuff but even knowledge and technology (paperform/data) . Hence that is why Colt Canada still requires export permits when the guns are made in Canada. They are exporting the knowledge and technical data to make the guns.

same would apply to the knowledge gained on these courses. Although in past years they have not been very sticky about it, in post 9-11 they are looking closer at things. Some companies are not aware of the requirements and some don't care and that is why stuff still happens.

Several noted US trainers have been denied (by US DoS) approval to come to Canada to train civilians...

Some courses in the US are Cdn Mil or LE only
