I'm looking for a black colored epoxy that will work on aluminum and stainless steel and sandblasting media for a small project on a pistol. If any of you guys know the name of a type available in Calgary and where available would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Devcon makes some fantastic products.

Their puttys/liquids are great and I've used them several times. The Titanium putty in particular is very strong and machinable.

You can try BC Bearing in Calgary. They may not have it on the shelf (maybe they will) but can likely order it for you within a few days if they don't.

EDIT: Never used for gunsmithing personally, but it is good stuff. Never been disapointed and it isn't terribly expensive.

Aklands-Granger has Devcon stuff, particularly the Plastic Steel (A) and Plastic Steel (B) {my favourite}.

Unfortunately you've got to buy a 1 pound kit, and it's about 50 bux. The Titanium Putty is really good too; but it shrinks a little more than the steel.

The Titanium shrinkage spec is rated @.001" per inch of epoxy. I think that's not too bad. Hard like the wheels of hell and rated 18000psi impact 350F heat rated.
$110.oo per lb though.

Brownells markets a steel bedding compound. Princess Auto has sold glass beads for abrasive blasting.

+1 for Devcon, we use their product to seal hole in Power Transformer (25kV). nice 1minute epoxy in a serynge

Home Hardware handles handles an epoxy called PC7 which is almost black, and very versatile. Princess Auto sells an epoxy called Cold Weld (gray), for about $5, and another in putty form, which I forget the name of for around the same price. All work well, and the putty stuff sets up very quickly. The Princess Auto products are packaged in relatively small quantities, which makes them very economical to use.
