Any one have pics of the vented hand guard on their SKS?

Preferably wood stocks, I dont plan on buying a plastic stock as my laminated one is nice (but the hand guard is not laminated being why I would like a vented one).
Im thinking it would look better than the miss-colored wood hand guard, and it would flow better being that the metal in front and behind it is black. And logically it would keep the barrel a bit cooler.

Any downside to them?

Thanks guys

This is the one that I have on mine. It's not pictured with a wood stock, but you can use your imagination :p

The only downside that I have with it, is that it only came with one spring clip to help support it from being pressed down onto the gas tube. Other than that, it just looks cool :D

After about the 50th round she start's getting hot.
The NcStar 1 on the other hand will burn your finger tip's off at the same number of rounds. Although the the less moving part's tends to leed to better accuracy, or so they say.

Im not too sure which has less moving parts?

But im glad to hear about the heat issue, i emailed sksman for a shipping quote for that, 2 new sears, and a recoil buffer.

I am starting to second guess myself on wanting the hand guard. I will see what sksman says about shipping i guess.

Your friend Mr.Tig will be needed in order to secure the hand guard from rattling loose under stained fire.
E.G. you have 500 rounds and your going whole hog blasting away. About the 100th round you take a break because all you can see is heat waves. Then you start blasting again. The handgaurd will then rattle around on you. Not much but it will have some play unless you properly (AKA weld it) to your gas tube assembely.
Although who care's about accuracy it's an SkS. Shoot the piss out of it & have fun.
;)

Doesn't look kewl.

lol .. yeah yeah.

It does heat up a bit. But like Satain mentioned. It take quite a few rounds down the pipe to get it hot. I usually stop after 20-25rds and switch to my other rifles when I am out plinking.

As of tomorrow this is coming off. I found a the Ncstar gas tube that I have been looking for. I also picked up a UTG rail and Comp4 clone that I am going to mount on it. After that I'm done dolling up my SKS.
