I know some of you got yours from Canadaammo so I'm curious as to seeing the pictures and the quality of these M14's. I've heard they are hit or miss in terms of quality..... of course how could I ever compare lemons to oranges when it comes to Springfield M14's....

Nonetheless, I'd like to see M14 pictures. I want to see close ups of the action and any sort of imperfections if there are any. Overall pictures and comparisons to AR's etc. are cool too.

And please, I don't want this thread to be a debate about US quality M14's vs Chicom/Norc M14 love/hate thread. I just want pictures and personal experiences so that I may decide to get one in the future.

Thanks to all CGN members that participate in my research and may all who look to this thread learn something valuable.

Funny that M14's can be found in the EE of the Black Rifles but I can't find them as often in the Surplus Rifle section. Hence the reason why I searched here first. Still not much for pictures as I assume most people are having too much fun with the shorty M14's.

Oh and yes, the Main battle rifles section of the threads was helpful though I'd still like pictures.

Get a Shorty from Canam and I am sure you will enjoy it and find it to be very reliable and pretty accurate ( but expensive to feed ..lol)
Lots of help on here for you...check out the stickies and other threads..

I bought a Norinco Shorty from CanAm and I am impressed.
I found the machine work on the inside of the receiver and on the gas cylinder as well is better on my Canam Norinco Shorty This is compared to the 2 other 2009 Polytechs I owned at the time as well as a friends 2009 Norinco.
Barrel Index and gas cylinder locking up where it should (no shims required).
The rear sights were really stiff but useable after cleaning them , but I put on a Garand rear sight anyhow.
If you are planning on putting on a scope the barrel indexing and rear sight issues some of these Chinese rifles have wont have to be fixed anyhow.

The op rod guide on mine had to be tightend up but that was an easy fix..

I had the gas system unitized (tig welded) but you dont really have to get this mod done..;)

My Shorty is on the right ...shown with my 2 2009 Polytechs

chalkriver thanks for the pics! Suppose there are differences in quality due to your model number? Roughly what series is your M14? (ie, 12###) don't have to list your serial number. Its because they are made in batches..... so I'm not sure if there is or not much of a difference. I've seen on the battle rifles thread there and that post was quite awhile back.
