Hi
I am in Peterborough, Ontario if anybody local has a wrench to remove the castle nut from the buffer tube behind the receiver, I would like to borrow it.
Hmmm... Can a person transport the lower without a STATT ?
Can you use a punch to loosen this nut without mangling anything?
Thx In advance
Tim

Hi

The lower receiver is legally considered to be the firearm, so unfortunately you need an ATT from your house to wherever you want to take it.

As for the other stuff, I can't really help you except to say that using a punch to remove the nut would probably mangle it and the receiver extension tube.

If you don't care about marking it up, a pipe wrench of appropriate width can quite easily remove the nut.

A brass punch shouldn't damage anything. Hell, I've wrapped some duct tape around the jaws of a pair of channel locks. That being said, if you own an AR, you should put out the money for a wrench.
