Here's a pic showin my modified stock next to an OEM factory stock:

As you can see I took a cheap factory stock and whittled it down into something that is lighter, prettier and more comfortable!

I shortened the fore end and remove the front band clamp.

I tapered the fore end so that it didn't look odd after the band clamp came off.

Then, I flattened the bottom of the fore end so it works better when I'm shooting off a rest or bench.

Added finger grooves, re-worked the palm grip near the trigger and re-shaped the butt. I added a longer butt pad to add a bit of length to the rifle since I always felt it was too short. Just need to finish fitting the buttpad to the stock.

I finished it with some leftover stain and then oiled it.

It's now a nice, comfortable, light stock that I'm not afraid to ding or dent.

Rifle shoots like a dream too since I pillar bedded the action and floated the barrel.

Thanks guys!

I've had lots of 10/22's over the years and this is by far my favorite version... the others were everything from fancy safe-queens, to a loaded SR-22, and a Krinker Plinker, and a Hogued/BBL'd target rifle... this one does everything that the others did, but is so much lighter and manageable and I don't really care if it gets dinged. All the good parts are on the inside anyways :)

List of things done to this 10/22:

1) Bolt reworked by Que - I see he is now no longer doing gun work, but it was TOP NOTCH work and I love what he did to my bolt! Read more here: https://1022companion.wordpress.com/2015/02/24/working-over-the-bolt/
2) Extended mag release
3) Bolt buffer
4) Polished inside of receiver
5) Polished trigger internals, VQ trigger, adjustable over travel set screw, old style metal trigger case,
6) Titanium charge handle and spring guide
7) VQ extractor

Just need to find a sporter taper barrel and I'll be golden! (Or find someone who can re-work the OEM barrel...)

(edited the post so the image is now click-free)

Sorry. My bad. In my attempt to make the link click-free, I messed it all up. I put it back to the way it was just now. I can't figure out how to make Dropbox images embedded in the forum.

go to photobucket.com and make an account, its free.
upload your picture and than come back and post your pic.
works like a charm.

and its free, cause we all know how cheap we canadian gun nutz are!!
