Hi there,

I recently went out to purchase a Winchester 270 WSM featherweight, and found they had recently changed the factory where they are made.

As such I am looking to buy an older (3 years+) Winchester (hopefully feather weight) or Sako 270 WSM... maybe you have one you'd like to part with? Send me a message if you do.

Thanks!

FYI: I live in Vancouver area, but am mobile in BC.

Well, first off this should be in the exchange forum as a WTB add.

Winchester stopped making the Model 70 in 2006, announced production in 2007 and really had production again in 2008. So it was awhile ago.

But to make this a thread for discussion:
Why wouldn't you be happy with a new model 70 Featherweight in .270 WSM? I am a Winchester guy and I am much more impressed with the fit, finish and quality of the current Carolina made Model 70 than the 2000-2006 made models. Both are CRF, with the only significant change being the trigger. I love the simplicity of the older style, but the newer trigger is no less reliable than a Timney or remington and is quite nice. I don't know if the staff at the gun shop gave you one to handle or not, but I hope this helps you.

Also, which Sako would you be comparing to the featherweight? An A7, a "75" or an "85"?

I would also go with the new one. I have a 2009 production Featherweight and really like it. Fit and finish as already mentioned is pretty good, accuracy is good, feeding and extraction are flawless.
