Wanting to bird hunt!

I started hunting a year ago and love it. Ive only been turkey hunting and would love to get into ducks/geese etc. Is there anyone in southern ontario that could lend a hand! Looking for a mentor to show me the ropes!

What birds are popular game in Ontario? I know you guys have turkeys. Are grouse common there?

Do some reading on their habits and how to pick likely areas where you hunt. Grouse (partridge) have limited territories, if you find them note the area. Bird hunting is great because you can hunt every day through the season. Good luck.

It depends where in the province. I believe they're still plentiful in northern Ontario. Populations aren't great in the areas around Ottawa I've been, and they are areas where they were common 10-20 years ago. Waterfowl and turkey are some pretty damn popular game birds around these parts though.

The big issue is almost zero Crown/hunting land for most of Southern Ontario. There are a few private clubs you can pay to hunt on.

I generally hunt solo but if youre in shape i dont mind hunting a zone in rondeau park with new hunters. Done it several times with no regrets thus far
