Was holding a TC Venture today... tell me why I like it so much??

Hey,
I've got one in 308 and it is my deer slayer. Great trigger, ok stock (check the barrel relief) and my best group I have ever shot. Barnes tsx factory 168 I think under 1/2" at 100. Send you a picture of the target if I could but basically 1 hole. Hand loads with the tsx I haven't got under 3/4" but super accurate from a cold barrel. Kind of crappy plastic mags that you gotta watch while loading that you don't stovepipe. I'd recommend one depending on price- what are you looking at for $? Bought mine at Saskatoon gun works for around 700 plus scope I think, will check receipt if you like. My 12 yr old got his first wt buck at 351yrds and a muly doe at 185. I reached out to a little over 400 for a nice wt buck last year but the tsx's don't expand well at that range so it needed another poke. Recommended, check that you are getting a new one as I seem to recall the first batch had a safety recall, check the tc site... Cheers
Tom

I've been looking at TC guns too, mainly Dimension, but he cost have jumped really high now. Guns prior to 2010 or 2011 I guess had a recall due to safety's being defective. Local wholesale sports told me they pulled out of Canada due to recall logistics and you can't get warranty on them anymore. I don't think this makes sense and there are a number of vendors that do carry TC.

Update on prices, looks like I paid 599 plus 39 for mag, 150 for used bushnell 2-7 x 32, rings and a box of tsx 950 taxes in. Just remeasured my best target, 3 shots at 100 with factory Barnes tsx 168gr under 3/8". 'Twas a holy hell moment. I was getting way under an inch (7x at 100) then I decided to let the barrel cool for a few minutes between shots. Thought I was flinging flyers off the paper after the first shot, wtf! Where did those hit? Walked up and saw the one hole group and said done! Time for a whiskey! Post the target on the gun cabinet and call her a day...
Sweet rifle, nice balance, real nice bolt, reminds me of a LE#4 that has been shot lots-without the slop. I'd buy it again

Good to know, thanks.

Yes Agreed, very good rifles. Wife has a 243 compact, I bought a camo weather shield 243 in December, and I have a standard Venture in 308 which I may sell as I like my T3 better and don't need 2 308's. They are a bit on the heavier side, not over the top heavy, but they do balance very well for me anyways. All have easily shot MOA or well under with all the different factory loads I have tried.

Had one in 30-06. It was a 1½ moa rifle with everything I tried in it.

Plenty good enough for hunting, but I already had 2 - 30-06 rifles that outshot it.

Someone else is enjoying it now. :) Dave.

I got one in 22-250 with weatheshield from Al flarhatys back in the fall. Paid 599 and there was also a $75usd rebate at the time. After shooting it, I actually almost feel like I stole it off them. Shoulders nice, crisp trigger and easily shoots 1" groups with Winchester white box ammo.

Have one in 300wm great gun very accurate, simmons scope that came with is kinda crappy plastic mag is cheap but works. Only real problem has been the recall on the trigger. They said the gun had a chance of going of it self, sent in to outfit in B.C got rifle back 4 months later and have a great rifle back again. Would highly recommend this gun.

TC Venture in 30-06 was my first rifle, loved it, traded for a dimension a few years in and love it too. They're still around for sure, Cabelas, WSS, BassPro etc. Stuff is really slow coming in to Canada. Warranty issue was a bit of a pain, but certainly not a debacle. Glad they were taking care of potential issues.

OK... what is wrong with these rifles?... this one felt very nice, looked very well made, slick bolt, nice everything!

Does it have an image problem?

This is why I never go to the sporting goods shop with a few pints downrange. No different than the pub at closing time, it all ends up looking good until the fog clears the next morning and buyer's remorse kicks in.

I seriously doubt you would have Buyers Remorse with a TC Venture.

A Dimension on the other hand is a different story...... Those things are Fugly.
