I say moose 100%. The moose also made the rub and his pit. If you set up there you might see him. I see moose poop like that all the time near beaver ponds or if its been raining for days. More water intake = soft poops. Works on people too.
I have no idea if that is moose or deer, but moose do dig out a pit to attract females. From the picture it looks too small, but that may just be the angle. They urinate in the pit and then roll around in it to get the scent, the pits that I have see have been a little wider
