I understand that supplies of Barnaul 7.62x54R are down to just about zero - and being from Russia I probably is now non-importable.

I'm thinking of buying some if - it can still be found. However, having already shot a bit of this stuff I didn't find it to be that accurate. Assuming I can still find more - is it worth buying?

Have others found any issues with accuracy? Are we sure that it is really non-corrosive?

Unfortunately there's not a whole lot of options here in this caliber that is widely available on the market (if that) - pretty much Barnaul, Norinco or PPU are the brands, not to mention a plethora of different unnamed surplus out there. I can't speak to the accuracy question, since my point of reference is very narrow (only have shot Barnaul and some unknown likely Eastern bloc surplus), but I can say with certainty that all the Barnauls I have shot have not been corrosive, but that's been consistent across the board with Barnauls of various calibers. I can't say the same about Norinco...

I can also confirm 100% it is/was non corrosive. I used to shoot their FMJ load quite a bit when it was available a few years ago. It shot as well as I could at the time (3moa with a refurb 91/30), now that I have better rifles and greater skill it's nowhere to be found of course. Moving on to cast bullets in that calibre (and .303) was I think an excellent decision.

Yes it’s non corrosive, accuracy will be determined by your specific gun and ability. I have a close friend that shoots it through his Mosin with good accuracy. I’ve tried it in a red rifle and it was 2-3” at 100m so not terrible.

It's great ammo for the svt40 and mosin.
I reload for my mosin so keep the barnaul for the svt40 as I don't have to clean it every time i use it.
svt is hard on cases so I don't reload for it.
It can still be found but sadly it's over 20 bucks a box now so not exactly cheap anymore.

Magdump (Spectre Ballistics I think, could be wrong) here sent an email today saying they found some Barnaul 7.62x54R in their inventory. Price is very good for this ($18.69) per box of Barnaul 7.62x54R.

I don't see them on the site sponsors board (at least not with my old man eyes) so I won't hotlink, but a casual search will find it.
