Due to the high risk of forest fire in Nova Scotia, all of the DNR ranges are closed. So because i really really wanted to site in my rifle tomorrow i called the local (Waverly rd, Dartmouth) DNR office and talked to "Evette" I explained the situation to Evette and asked if i could site in on private property. My friend has an active farm on 875 acres. Plenty of shooting room. She took my information THEN APPARENTLY ASKED SOMEONE OR LOOKED IT UP and called me back a half hour later. She told me "Yes you can sight in your hunting rifle as long as you get written permission from the land owner" I got super excited, thanked her and hung up. I then thought to myself i should get this in writing because i am sure to run into an over enthusiastic DNR field agent while shooting. I called Evette back and asked her to just write me a quick email with what she just told me. She told me she couldn't. "Sorry i cant do that" i thought ok. this is weird. So i asked if we could get a field agent on the phone so we could three way and make sure we are all on the same page. She seemed upset because of this and cold transferred me to a field agent. I asked him the question and he told me absolutely not. Only allowed shotgun this time of year. I explained to him what she told me and he took my information, called her and asked her where she got the information. Corrected her to the actual rules and called me back telling me absolutely not again. So I am probably thinking too far into it but it is probably a safe assumption that this mis informative desk secretary is an anti gun plant that is spreading misinformation to cause hunters to get their firearms confiscated.

i am actually quite angry now thinking about how bad this could have turned out for me because of her.
