I bought a box of 50 CCI Quiet 710 fps .22lr, and some Remington Subsonics which go at 1050 fps. Tried both, and found the CCI's were nice and quiet. I shot about 5 each, then thought wow this is great for the young boys to practice with, so I went back and bought 500 (a brick) more! A few weeks ago I was shooting them in an old German youth rifle that is 80+ years old, and I noticed no hit sound on the target after a shot, so I took the bolt out and checked the bore, and noticed the round got stuck at the end of the barrel. Shot some more and they worked fine, until the 7th or 8th shot, and one got stuck again. The rounds were grouping well at 160 ft+ so I was wondering why this was so, and figured it was an old gun and the head space was off and too much gas was getting out at the chamber. A few days ago I took out my CZ 452 Scout, and after 7 to 8 shots one got stuck. Got it out, cleaned it, then 7-8 shots later again a round got stuck.

I emailed CCI and told them about this, and the fact that I was getting good groups between rounds getting stuck, and they asked me if I was shooting in cold temperatures or shooting up. I told him it was 24 C up here in the great white north and I was shooting a target horizontally when it happened again. There response today was get a gun that conformed to ANSI specs (ie. an American gun) and I should be fine.

There are no warnings about bore requirements on the package or the website, so people beware, buy a European gun, CCI Quiets may not work in it, so buy American!

I've been running CCI Quiet through my Chiappa Little Badger and some Savage Mark II's with no problems so far. On my 2nd brick of it I think (maybe 3rd?). I've ran a mag through my GSG 1911 with no problems too (doesn't cycle the action but fired fine).

only thing ive seen is on ruger 10 22s they dont cycle, but they are quiet . good round to teach kids to shoot as it has minimal noise for their ears when using muffs.

Ran some in my cz's with no problems. My cil and cooey shoot em fine too. Even my marlin 60 shoots em with no problems. Accuracy however isn't all that great for me.

I've only heard about that happening with longer barreled .22's. It's a good point to be aware of, thanks for posting!
Bit of a BS response from CCI though. CZ scout with it's 16 inch barrel shouldn't be an issue.

Shot a box in my 452 lux with no problems and the barrel on that is 24.5" Maybe just a bad lot?

That's what I think. Why would 6 or 7 rounds in a row group at 50m+ then one cannot make it out of the barrel, should fine again, then jamb again. Plus the old German gun rifling would be warn from original specs. I may start measuring the bullet diameters and see how much variability there is with a micrometer.

I've shot a handful through my Little Badger with no issues (other than being almost as loud as standard velocity rounds in that gun). Will be extra diligent when firing these in the future, thanks for the heads-up.

Hmm....I shoot them lots out of my 10/22...I do have the odd one that won't eject when I rack the action and actually need to use a knife to get the brass out of the chamber. I figured mabe the ejector is getting worn but it never happens with anything else and the brass is stuck in there tight when it happens. Only maybe 2 out of a box of 50.

Could be the CZ's are running a wee bit tighter bore.

Perhaps his particular rifle has just a tad tighter bore (or is just really fouled).

Combined with a lead nose bullet bullet without much oomph behind it and some excess lead fouling could become an issue quickly.

It shoots fine for a few rounds, then the lead builds up and one gets stuck.

Run it through, and repeat.

Any other lead round nose round likely has the extra oomph to push through despite the lead fouling.

I am no expert on ammo by any means, but it took my micrometer and measured one, locked it, then passed other rounds through, some went through no problem, others were tight and others had to be forced through.

You guys seriously didn't catch this......Shooting vertical will stop it in the barrel!

That sounds crazy ...

so maybe shooting down it will make it to china, hmm.

Ive fired a thousand or so through a savage mark II Tr with a 23'' Barrel and I've never had one misfire or not leave the barrel, If its consistent around the same shot every time in the same time frame your barrel could be vibrating excessively and creating excess heat and expanding and going out of spec, I don't know
