Not to be confused with water pistols.

I've stripped my Tokarev and sanded it down in steps to a 1200 grit.
The frame is completely stripped and the slide only has the firing pin and extractor area/block remaining.
While the outside is smooth and shiny, the inside is entirely filthy with metal dust.
Is it ok to clean this beast in boiling hot soapy water, let it dry (the heat should take care of that) and then oil it up nicely?

Should be fine. I would still get all the water out I could with Q tips and paper towels however.
I'm assuming you don't have compresses air? That would be an even better solution.

Yes !
I clean all my black powder and weapons that use corrosive with hot water at some time in the cleaning process.
The hotter the better, I then spray or wipe on a coat of Ballistol or some other water soluble oil.
No rust or corrosion problems to date.

Use real hot water - not boiling, and then the wife's hair dryer. Then, some creeping oil (I use Weapon Shield - Ballistol is good too) and wipe that sucker down until it feels like satin!

The pistol comes out pretty - but if I'm caught with the hair dryer - ooohhhhhhh ......

whenever i get a new Norinco as soon as i get home i fill a rubbermaid garbage can half full of hot water and dishsoap.
i then strip the gun down to the last spring and drop it all in, let soak for 10 minutes then i take after it with a scrub brush.
once cleaned and rinsed i drop everything on a towel and let sit over night.

next day i hit it all with G96 gun treatment.
usually 2 or 3 times.

guns always come out perfect.

think i have a pic of when i did my M305, sec...

Found them!
