Water public domain?

My family owns a small land locked lake, my understanding is that the lakebed is owned by us...

Thats generally how it works I've been told, you can use a boat and go over any water source as long as you don't touch the bed of the river or lake in Ontario.

So a river can cross through one farmers property but he/she may not stop you from boating on the river. This is how it was explained to me by a MNR CO.
