I average about 200 per year. I track the species and numbers on an excell spreadsheet in order to determine which species are particularly abundant in the areas I hunt. For instance, for the past 3 years my take of mallard has been increasing while my take of gadwall has decreased. So far compared to last year my take of teal is way down while I've already killed several canvasback.
These days I only shoot what our family can reasonably use. Have shot the Delta Marsh/Lake Francis region here in Manitoba since I can remember. Years ago huge were bags the norm. Today I'm happy with 4 ducks... quality stuff though... love those cans and redheads! Late northern mallards are nice as well.
My waterfowl hunting is pretty much limited to hunting geese in cut corn or grain fields. We do get the odd duck or two come into the decoys, so usually a couple a year.
