All right, I have often been baffled by the lustre of some guns, so finally I looked into it.

It seems that I have been in the dark or I just didn't care, but now I do.

For your blued guns do you use Flitz or Renaissance wax?

Does it really matter though?

After shooting is it easier to clean a waxed cylinder if applied prior to shooting? I want to know.

This guy is serious about his safe queens, but how about the guns that get used?

I use flitz to polish then a coat of renaissance wax about once a year, i'm not sure if it makes them any easier to clean though. But it makes them shine.
I've never seen the flitz wax, I just use the polish. Renaissance wax can be ordered from Lee Valley.

The trick to making a Norc 1911 look like a 'real' 1911 is to use a small amount (very small, very gentle) of Flitz wax on that dull blue finish - comes out beautiful. Wait 'til you find out it's safe for the bore too.
