CSA VZ58 sporter 7.62x39 Looking for help.
The first trip to the range was not good. At 25 yrds new out of the box , iron sights, the point of impact was several inches left of aim point.
So I order a tool for the front sight adustment hoping that it just needed a tweek.
Well im not so lucky. With the front sight maxed out for windage, the point of impact is still 2 to 3 inches left of point of aim. I did not even try it at 100 yrds.
What could be the PROBLEM? do I have to send it in for warranty? I do not understand how it could leave the assembly shop so far out of alignment.

Hi. According to CZ-USA, your rifle has adjustable rear sights. Centre the front sight, change ammo and try again.
Are you shooting the thing off a solid rest?

My first FSN-01 was same way, the front sight block wasn't centered on barrel or barrel wasn't in receiver straight, whichever, But check that. I sent mine back to Marstar and they sent new a new one which shoots awesome.

Thanks for the input. Yes I tried two kinds of ammo. Last time at the range a fellow shooter had the same rifle and he never had to adjust for windage. i tried my ammo in his rifle and it shot on target.
I think the rear sight is adjustable for elevation only.
And yes a solid rest. I am not happy!

That's a good question, thanks Stevo. Yes the POI did come in but is still off by 3 or 4 inches. do you think it can be fixed under warranty by CSA? Or should i try for the refund / exchange as Mark mentioned?
Did the POI move at all when you adjusted the front sight?

I'd certainly say you have a warranty claim. It depends on what's wrong on whether or not they will fix or replace.

Is the front sight base canted? I've seen that on CSAs and it can certainly make a difference in zeroing.

Does the rear sight appear to be installed correctly, straight and aligned with the bore?

Does the barrel appear straight? How does the crown look?

Do you have a muzzle device on? If so, any evidence of bullet strikes?

Thanks again Stevo I will cal to see what they will do before i ship it for warranty. I would assume they will test fire it? And i call the Dealer as well.

But all "looks" good on the rifle that's what is so frustrating.

I was planning on using it for close range on the spring bear hunt loaded with hollow points. But not if its that far off target.

Check with your dealer first. If you know someone who has more experience with VZs, give them a call, too. Maybe they can spot the problem.

I don't know what the warranty depot will do with it. Never had to send one in.

we have received you gun for warranty. We inspected it and found that the entire barrell assembly had been rotated to the left. The receiver shows signs of finish that had been removed from the barrel pin and replaced with cold blue and some frame damage caused by excessive chamber pressures. I have notified the factory that i recommend that the entire gun be replaced.
This is not the usual quality that CSA puts out and the factory has been working very hard to not let things like this slip through the inspection process.
I will advise you when you can expect a replacement, once i hear back from the factory.

Most Excellant, thank you to everyone at Movie Arms. I have shot a few hundred rounds with the replacement VZ-58 and I love the way it performs. Even 5 shots at a time........ The bore and sight alignment is as it should be!
