Well, I hit paper at 200 yards with my 10/22 today. Officially, 40 shots taken, 4 10 shot groups. First group had 1 hit the bottom of the page. Next group was low about 8 hits on paper. 3rd group was really high... made too much of an adjustment. 4th group went way under, lol. All bullets were hitting straight and true.

It was pretty cool shooting that far! I could see the bullet disrupt the rising heat waves as it arced up and then back down to where I was aiming.

I'm going to try to get it zero'ed for 200 yards next range visit. Equipment is 10/22 with butler creek barrel/stock, junky tasco 2.5-10x42mm, Remington Target ammo.

The "lowly" .22 can be fun at 100-200 yards. My Mossberg 144LSB allows me to get there with some regularity. I use a Tasco 6x24x42 scope which improves the sight picture a lot at those distances.. The 10 x that was on it just was not enough power.

In the fields, I shoot gophers at 150-200 and use regular Winchester 333s. cheap but seem to work great. I set the gun up for them and do not switch brands. With the numbers I shoot, the high prices shells would not be economical at all.

i have shot about the same as you have at 200 with my 1940 Marlin model 81....with the longer 24 inch barrel, it seems to reach further more accurately than my Mossy 151. with a 20 inch barrel.

200 with a .22? Childs play! I've whacked gophers at over 300 with my 10/22. It's turning into artillery at that range, but it's fun trying to read the wind!

I have mine zeroed at 100. At a 50 zero, you REALLY gotta aim high at 300!

300 is my next challenge after getting some groups on target at 200.

Yes I was aiming pretty high! The scope was able to dial to 200 but I ran out of time before I could really get it spot on. I think it will be about 8-10 clicks from the top.

I did the same thing while at the range today.only I was shooting clays laid out on the burm.my 10/22 is sighted for 50 yds so alot of holdover is nesessary.with the 25 round mag you can walk the shots right in there.i was also shooting my cz 452 with open sights .the sights adjust to that distance so elevation is not a problem but with the naked eye its hard to see point of impact.a co shooter I had spotting for me was in awe that I could even hit them with the open sights.some of the clays didn't break on the first hit but you could see the hole punched in them with a follow up shot they would break apart.the real challange for the day was the golf ball at 100 yds with a hole drilled through it and hanging by a length of string that little sucker is is hard to hit.I managed to hit it twice out of about 30 shots.

Hey fat tony today was an awsum day at the range no or little wind.next weekend I will be going to camp for the weekend so I wount be able to get there.may try to get out some after noon this week though.

I was shooting 50 yards at the start of the day and saw a little moving black dot on the paper. Stopped shooting for a sec... it was a fly. Strange to see a fly out in March. Must be a mutant fly. Environmental danger I thought, better take it out. Got the 2nd magazine, reloaded the first, took aim, missed 1st shot, 2nd shot looks like I hit it. Yep, mutant house fly eliminated. Thank god.

Went and got the corpse, sent it to the MNR. They agreed it was indeed a fabled mutant fly. With 17 wings. They thanked me for my help and gave me $1,000.00. Ha.

Now you can afford a brick of Velocitors......:D.......:(

Just this past Friday, I brought my cooey 82 military trainer .22 with peep sight along to the range with me. Wasn't shooting for paper, just a bit of fun. Aiming at the steel plate/gong (Roughly 18 inch diameter) at 200 yards was a laugh. First couple I could see hitting dirt way low, after a couple adjustments to the peep, I was hearing the slight "dinnnggg" every shot. :D At 50 yards, this thing is incredible for an "open sight" rimfire, but just as fun at 200!!!

What would you say this caliber/range would be similar to in a larger cal? As in, what range would it compare to if I was using a 308?

I would compare a .22 lr @ 200 yds to my 6BR @ 600 yds.
A .308 WIN would be similar to the 6BR .
Best guess.
