What should be a good average dosage ? 40-44 grain ?

It's a surplus powder that doesn't appear on any burn rate chart. You may or may not be able to get more, anyway. Personally, I wouldn't touch a powder that doesn't have readily available data. However, you need to give the bullet weight you're using too.

brotherjack made a post on this exact load a few years back - search threads. Andy is very knowledgable as well. It is Data Powder 2200 - aa has a pdf of load data on their site i think.

or follow what Andy always said before this info came out... use H322 load data and work up from there.

Start at about 42 and you should end up pretty happy - and safe, if you work up properly - at 44gn or thereabouts.

I worked up some Hornady 150s to 44.3 grains, 2840 fps out of my Norc M14. YMMV.

Either-or, but I use 147gn ex-M80 ball tips.

Works fine with 168 SMKs too; 44gn isn't a max load at all in my LC'07 brass with CCI 34 primers. With a regular 'large rifle' primer (since 34's are magnums) it should be even milder.

Shoots very well though.

Best load in my particular gun (well, one of anyway) is 42.6 behind a 168 gr bullet. 1/2 MOA. - dan
