Has anyone tried this surplus powder successfully and lived to tell the tale in their M14/M305? I was looking into an inexpensive CQB competition load, 50 yards and less, pushing a 110 copper projectile round using my over .006 thou run-out brass collection.

That WC735 is ALL I use in my .308 Win M1 Garand, NorPoly M14, and Winnie M70 Hvy Varmint rig. I've had lots of success with 43.x , 44.x grains of WC735. Your mileage may vary depending on your setup.

Now for CQB, I would start at 41.0 grains of the WC735 since it's a very efficient powder (volume, mass). Besides, at CQB ranges and your 100-110-125 grain pill, your load of about 40 gr to 41 grains will be just fine!

My current load for inside 600m shooting (M1 Garand & NorPoly M14) is a 125 gr Moly'ed Speer TNT bullet with 44.5 gr WC735. I've even used this powder load in my sniper rigs with the 155gr AMAX Hornady bullet with super results.... warning: this may be a hot load in YOUR boomstick!

Cool Barney.

I was thinking of making it really light, 30-35+ grain area, to further stretch the ecomomy of the powder. I'm going to get it light as possible but efficent enought to cycle the bolt reliably. Could I be gambling here?

Mike mentioned your sniper load using that Amax 155 and the WC735. He has had great success using it on his sniper rig. I'll try it too. At 20$ a pound, I'm laughing.

BTW to further economize you sniper load, have you had any success using the WC735 with the Hornady bulk 150 FMJ-BT for sniper/precision on your M700? 155 AMAX are still kinda pricey but I guess you get waht you pay for.

Be careful with the light powder loads. Too little powder often can be more dangerous than a heavy powder charge and may result in detonation. Ask about it on the reloading forum.
