Hi All,

Does any one own or could anyone comment about this gun. I have found one in extremely nice condition. Would this be a suitable gun for someone who is just beginning at trap. It feels lighter swings nicer than others I have looked at and fits me well i think. Did the close your eyes and shoulder test. I will not be able to test fire it. I seems to be very well made and balanced with beautiful wood and an inlaid ivory diamond on the bottom of the grip. I was originally going to get a mossberg silver reserve but after reading a lot about it decided to look at better quality used guns.

My intention is to get the most bang for my buck to start out. I would like to start with an OU and if I get hooked on trap I will with out a doubt spend a lot more money on a higher end gun. Right now I think that my lack of shooting skills have more bearing than the quality of my gun but a purpose made gun ie a real trap gun might help me a bit. Am I on the right track?

If you are like me when I started out you will realise down the road all those "starter" guns were a waste of time and $$. There is just no replacement for a good quality properly fitting shotgun. If trap is what you are interested in shooting then a good quality trap gun is what you should have. They are designed extensively for that purpose. Also in my personal opinion, get one with at minimum an adjustable comb/adjustable lop, if you decide to sell it it will be one size fits all. Makes resale much easier. Just my .02 worth

Buy the best gun you can afford,if you can get one with adjustable comb and rib,
but in the end I guess any gun will do (12ga) just get out and shoot as much as you can and the right gun will find you, for trap I like a BT99 or a Citori ,brownings are always affordable and have good resale

I would say if it fits buy it... I'm pretty sure you could get your $600 out of a Weatherby over & under right here on the EE. The shoulder check idea is ok, but if the gun is not shouldered with the padding of a coat or something the point of aim could be off. The stock should not have to be suck in too much to reach your shoulder or be thrown to far forward to clear your armpit when shouldering. Make sure the gun is pointing instinctively when shouldered with your eyes closed & not pointing off in any other direction but straight ahead. If this gun doesn't fit right scores will show it, bad habits may develop & it will probably cost more to fix the gun to your fit than to just suck it up & buy a properly fitting one. Skeet's more fun anyway...:D

As a beginner, I would buy it if you like it and it fits.
$3000.oo trap guns are nice , But???????
There are two models of this gun, does it have choke tubes/
Newer guns are made by Fausti , good maker in Italy,
older models are by SKB, Japan. Both good makers.
$ 600.oo would be a fair price if gun not shot out.
Check to see if it is tight, lever is not past center, check
breach faces etc.
As stated above, shoot it for awhile , sell it if you want to
go better.

Well I went out and shot several rounds did pretty good even hit the first 10 out of the house. Never shot a shotgun before this day. What I did discover was the recoil pad is as hard as a hockey puck. Got the bruises to prove it. So I am going to have a limbsaver fitted to it and everything should be good after that. Its super tight still I have to clean up the ejectors when it goes in for the pad.

PS this gun was actually made by Nikko in japan the people who made the Winchester 101.
