Group,

I have a weatherby PA-08 - good or bad - I got talked into buying one.
It has a bead front sight.
I am hunting with it and so far 2 for 3.
When I went shooting clays I was 1 for 5 when with a better gun I am 4 for 5.
I am thinking some form of sights might do me better.
What could work for it?
What is recommended - specifically for duck, goose and pheasant.

Thanks a ton,
Kevin

Practice and practice some more.
A more expensive doesnt make you a better shot.
Dont drop it in the water and expect the wood to not swell up..it will.
Thats a topic for another discussion, but getting to know your gun is going to only make you a better shot.

In my opinion, the pa-08 is not a pretty shotgun...... Weatherby ruined it with their gaudy markings...... But that is all about "looks".....

It is a well built and serviceable firearm....

Your clay experience likely comes from clay inexperience...... And has zip to do with your gun.....

Should have come with shims to drop the comb-it goes between receiver and stock. It was a must install for me to hit anything...my eye was otherwise out of alignment with point of aim.

Love the PA-08, a no non-sense beater in synthetic.

What do these shims look like? Mine didn't come with any. I hit when I mis-aim on purpose - I have to not see the target with the barrel.

I have one of them, works great shooting trap.
get a small bead installed halfway up the barrel then you can tell if you are looking straight up the barrel.

I agree with the group that a ton of practice will help me get it figured out. The one thing that gets me is I shoot accurately with other firearms and shooting with a shotgun is usually really easy for me - I typically nail it.
I feel the one bead is throwing me off one way or the other. Maybe a mid bead would help.
Again, super appreciate the input,
Kevin

Kevin-the shim is a mirror of the receiver/stock junction. It is wedge shaped with the thicker end placed towards the top of the receiver. You need to remove the stock to install.

If you bought your pa-08 new, it came with this shim. The owners manual has a description of the shim. If you don't have one I am sure Weatherby would send you one free.

If you want a pic send me a PM. Got a crow this morning with the pa-08.
