I'm looking at picking up another shotgun, mostly for upland birds and clays. I've got an 870 now, but have always been particular to Weatherby rifles. Anyone have any experience with a Weatherby pump? I'll mostly use 2 3/4 in shells but would like to have a 3 in chamber for when i take it out goose hunting. Any input would be appreciated.

x2 stick with your 870.

or if you are looking for something cheap and chambered in 3" than id recommend the mossberg 500 field/deer combo. I saw it at Wanstalls last time I was there and what a deal. blued steel, 26" ribbed field barrel and 24" rifled and ported slug barrel for just under $400. Im particular to 870's but you cant beat that for that price.

I owned the PA-08, i bought this gun based on the reputation of the company. After a week of solid testing, the gun would continuously jam when loading a fresh shell. Even after a complete cleaning. I figured this was a simple problem and i would just call the company and explain to them the issue to have them replace or fix the gun. Not so! They wanted me to send the gun across Canada to have it "checked by a licensed gunsmith" and if he thought it was not cycling to spec they would fix it. But the shipping (at my risk and expense) and time out (during hunting season) was my problem!

Now, all I was asking for was a gun that was reliable and would not jam! not too too big of a request considering i shelled out close to $550.00 for the new gun.
They did not fix the problem or even offer a solution. Ha! thanks for nothing!! i brought the gun back to where i had bought it and took the loss (sold it back to the store as a used gun, losing money). So, all i can say is this: She may look like a beauty, but that's about it! unreliable Turkish Junk!! Lesson learned. Listen to what people have to say before you buy, for the most part people on here have a done the research or know first hand. If i would have done this i would have saved myself tons of trouble and headaches.

p.s I bought a Benelli pump in its place and it is sweet gun!

Cheers and best of luck with your decision.

The Weatherby is much smoother and balanced better than a clunky mossberg.

Yeah but atleast my Mossberg is made in the States. I love my 500 and wouldnt trade it for a Turkish made POS. Its a shame that Weatherby's good name is beign tarnished by this sub par shotgun.
