weatherby question

Some Weatherby rifles are chambered for Weatherby cartridges, other Weatherby rifles are chambered for standard cartridges.

It's false...but he/she probably ment that Weatherby cartridges are unique designs and not interchangeable with others...which is correct. That means you can't use a .300 Winchester Magnum cartridge in a .300 Weatherby Magnum rifle or vice-versa.

Both these guys are correct. Weatherby makes some mean cartridges for their rifles though! .224 and .257 I'm told a pretty great. Only probably is you can expect to get fisted on ammo prices.

It can be another brand of ammo or hand loads .. But a 300 weatherby mag is only going to shoot 300 weatherby mag. Sort of a silly debate

so if a weatherby rifle is chambered for a cartridge made specifically by weatherby it will only shoot that cartridge,,but lets say its chambered for a rem 223 it will shoot any ammo,
thanks for the info

The manufacturer of the ammo is of little importance as long as said ammo matches the one stamped on the barrel. There are a few exception to the rule but pretty much every current production rifle will be stamped in the same manner as the print you'll find on the ammo boxes.
