Last year I bought one each with wood stocks on a sale for $574 + tax at WSS. I had a 12 & 20 with plastic stocks, but liked the wood better. Today I gave them a run when we tried out our new thrower.

Both performed flawlessly. I can't say which choke was in each, as I carefully forgot to take the little boxes with chokes and wrench! In both I used el cheapo Winchester Super Target purchased on a good sale at our local Co-op. I have a fair stock of them and will have to shoot them off before they go moldy. I have been buying only SCORE ammo lately, as I want to support a local (Carberry, MB) outfit. My buddy was using SCORE ammo today. We noticed that both brands seemed to be lacking pellets in some rounds.

I also cranked a few out of my old Stevens 620A.

Yes, I too have noticed that 1 in 3 rounds of my goose hunting ammo appears to have no shot in the wad-- and it isn't brand specific either--mind you last year it was worse. :^( .Re the Weatherby SA-08 in 12 guage, how is the recoil impulse with 3 inch ammo--compared to a pump action--my 870 clone is beating me up.

Can't answer you on the 3" recoil. It can't be as bad as a pump, that's for sure. In the days of yore, a few of us would get together and shoot at clays for an afternoon. All I had for a shotgun was my Dad's old Tobin double. Now, THAT old shotgun kicked!

I'm getting too old to pretend I'm a tough guy, hence the semi auto shotguns. We don't shoot high society clays, just fling 'em out there and try, try, try! Have lots of fun, some real good laughs, sit on the endgate for a while, shoot some more.

I have some other old shotguns that I try out once in a while. Stevens 620 and 620A, 58 Remington, Winchester 50, Ithaca SKB XL300, Beretta 301, Ithaca 37, Winchester Model 12. I like old shotguns. I even stoke up the old Tobin once in a while. My Dad only ever used Imperial Special Long Range. She was a kicker, for sure.

MMMmImperial Special Long Range can almost smell them spent hulls right now....
And I aint even that old...
Wood or plastic stocks?
If wood , seal the ends with some gun wax or you may find they swell up and split on you .
Just a previous observation.

Good tip! :) These are wood. I had one each of plastic. Nothing wrong with them either, just preferred wood. I have some fudd in my blood, I guess. :p
