Weatherby South Gate .257WM 1954. Need value

I have above rifle in about 75-80% condition overall. It has a 6x Lyman Wolverine scope mounted with Beuhler one piece base and rings. Not original finish. Serial number puts it at late 1954. Mauser action. Barrel is marked "Weatherby 257 Magnum" and "Chrome Bore". Rifle has a NOSHOC butt pad in good condition. Rifling looks okay to me.

Can someone help me out with an approximate value? Thanks in advance for any positive input.

Sporting rifles of this vintage are out of my league.

Pics would help. I'd wanna scope the bore after a good cleaning with Wipe Out to get a better idea on it's value.

Here's a real tidy one in .257 that the owner is asking $1700.US for.
