Hello all
I just recently purchased a new Weatherby Vangaurd Series 2 rifle chambered in the new 6.5 Creedmoor for a deer hunting rifle. I wanted to share with everyone how well the weatherby will really shoot and they have really stepped up to the plate with their garrantee 3 shot group .99 MOA accuracy or better at 100 meters. I have about 70 rounds thru the rifle and i only reload for it and i have a load with a 140 gr Berger VLD Bullet that is about 2825 fps that shoots .495 that is Sub MOA at 100 meters this is a factory rifle no work done to it yet. Pretty impressive. As i also own a custom built Sako 85 finnlight that my gunsmith went over it again and i put a Sako 85 hunter walnut stock on it and the Weatherby shoots as good as the sako. Mind u the Sako is much higher end finished product. But for anyone out there looking for a accurate flat shooting rifle with recoil like a 243 id highly suggest looking at the new Weatherby Vangaurd Series 2 in 6.5 creedmoor. Or any caliber for the matter that Weatherby has stepped up their game.

Thanks for reading

I'll echo everything you said about the Weatherby. I have an S2 in .30-06 and have put a mix of factory and reloaded ammunition through it. While the reloads faired better, accuracy wise, the rifle definitely lived up to the sub-MOA guarantee through and through. I've shot other rifles equally as accurate and with much more refined fit and finish, but as stated, these firearms commanded a significant price, higher than what Weatherby is asking.

For the price point and what you're getting, it truly is a bargain.
On my second one now.
I prefer the S2 over the S1 for some reason...................

The Howa 1500 has always been a great rifle whether it was stamped Smith & Wesson, Mossberg, Vanguard or Howa.

I prefer the early ones with the single stage trigger. The two stage may as well be a Mauser 98 trigger. It's worse than the Salvage Accutrigger, well actually it's just an automatic idiot proof safety.

Can't stand that cheap stamped safety lever on the Series 2 either.

I've had a few vanguard rifles now... They are all shooters.

The most recent "surprise" is one I purchased from a great member on here, that was damaged in shipping when he bought it. Got it for a great price. Finally got to put it on paper and to my surprise it printed 3 shots in less than 1/2 inch with cheap factory ammo! Think I got a keeper!

Can't agree more. Got my s2 last year, out of the box mounted a bushnell 3-9 loaded up 5 Federal Fusion 165gr and proceeded to shoot a .5ish group. Color me a happy man.

Howa makes a very good quality barreled action, whether you buy it as a Weatherby Vanguard, or as a Howa 1500.

I couldn't agree more, my 1500 stainless in 375 Ruger is a better quality rifle than the two Ruger 375s I had.
Not only built better but shoots and functions better.
As for the Vanguard S2, mine in 7 Rem. Mag. is the most accurate 7 mag I've ever had...

Quite looking forward to trying out my first of this ilk a Howa Hogue in 300 win mag should be here a day or two after the holiday. Being that its already a heavy bastid I'm thinking bipod, rail and a fairly big scope. .. a bean field sniper :)

Yes, probably just down the road from the factory making the Browning actions and barrels.

I have 5 Vanguards in my gunsafes. Not a one of them that will not beat the .99moa guarantee, and 3 of mine are S1 rifles.

My 30-06 is a stellar performer, shooting everything I have tried so far into 1ÂĽ moa or less. [ 7 different bullets and 4 powders]

These are a true bargain, performance wise.

Regards, Dave.

I also own 3 Vanguards, but all are S2's....I heard the triggers weren't that great on the S1's, but never got to fire one yet..... I have a SS .30-06 that will shoot to an inch, and a .240 that is secretly my favourite rifle.... I shot a 4"group at 500 yards a month ago, and I have been grinning ever since, but I did decide to put a Timney trigger into it....I figured that the rifle only cost me $570, and it shoots so well, that I may as well make the up-grade, I use that little rifle as my truck gun. I almost like it more than my .257 in the Mark V, well, not really, but I can take and use my .240 anywhere, and not worry about scratching, dinging, dropping, rust, etc. Ammo is brutally expensive though, so I got 100 rounds, and some re-loading dies. If I wear the barrel out, no problem, I'll get a new one, and dump the trigger into it, along with the scope, etc.....
My third Van 2 is an RC, it was pricey, but it is a .308 in a Bell and Carlson stock....I use this rifle to shoot metallic silhouette, and it also uses a Timney trigger in it..... What a great rifle as well. I am always recommending Van 2's to folks who ask....Especially the .240....!

"was" as in "is no longer"
"rup as in Prince Rupert; where I live
"zuk" as in Suzuki; at the time I was into Samurai's and Trackers but have since moved on to a DR650

My original handle was "rupzuk" on here but a computer meltdown and the issues of registering here using a work email that I had not worked at in over 5 years lead to me being a non member...hence the "was".

Nice to see your back in control of your account :)
