I was at the range yesterday and another guy shooting a Vanguard in .308 had his bolt get all buggered up. The bolt would slide forward, and yet would not lock down in place. The bolt handle would rotate down about halfway. The scope bases were the factory installed ones, and he fired several rounds prior to this happening. Any hints on what was happening or others who have had similar problems? With the chamber empty and the bolt down as far as it could go (1/2way) he could pull the trigger and the firing pin would release. THe safety also worked.

There is a bolt recall on certain vanguards , serial #'s ? call 'em

Was it a older model? There was a issue a few years back with bolt problems and Weatherby had a recall. I had mine done.
