Hey group.
I picked up a Weatherby Vanguard DGR in .375 H7H
I cant really find much info or articles on it.
What did it sell for and what is it worth in 10/10 shape? are the sought after?
not sure if I am going to keep it or sell it and buy something else.
in the picture it is the closer of the two.
Thank you in advance!

With today's big 30's and heavy bullets used in them (300 RUM, 300 PRC etc) the 375 H&H is a very niche caliber. Most guys don't have a real use for it unless your in the Yukon or going Africa.

Whats it worth? Well i've seen vanguards on the EE for $600 or less lately. A local store and site sponsor had a used Series 2 Backcountry in 257 wby, with a Viper 4-16x50 for $1100 that was 10/10 condition, don't even think it had been fired. That rifle is $1400 new and scope is $800 new. It did sell here in decent time though which was nice to see for the store.

I think they're probably the nicest entry level rifle on the market honestly. The triggers are nice, actions are slick, and they're stupid accurate.

I think if you got $750 for it thats a fair price. The vanguards just don't hold their value for some reason. Thats just my opinion. Take it for what its worth.

They didnt sell alot of them, I recall Cabelas selling them for about 1100 at one point. I honestly think they are still at least that. I know I looked for one for a long time and just didnt see one come up.

Agreed, given inflation etc I'd start there and see if anyone bites. It's a nice rifle with a B&C stock and usable NECG backup sights.

as well most of those HS stocked rifles sell for a lot more than a Hogue stocked base model, and few or none have iron sights
Market for a 375h&h may be more for the traditionalists, so a Win or Ruger will always sell for more than a Vanguard/Howa
Also the Vanguard action, while good in itself, is not equal to a Mk5, so not known as an 'African' Weatherby, maybe? idk
Nice rifle there, on a good magnum sized action, but the cartridge is not in big demand

The 300 PRC is not a 375 H&H replacement, regardless of geographic location, and this is not a 600 dollar vanguard.

These sold for ~1200 bucks back when PG had a wholesale sports around a decade ago...

I didn't say it was a $600 vanguard. Again, 375 H&H is a niche cal, its going to be a tough sale AND its not a $1000 rifle. Sorry. Theres a Sako L61R 375 H&H in great shape for $1100 at the local shop here and its been here for 5 months. And hate to say it cause I'm a fan of the Vanguards, I have a few of them myself, the Sako is 10x the rifle a Vanguard is.

They might have sold for $1200 back then, still a $750 gun today. They didn't appreciate like most guns do, especially with Weatherby coming out with a series 2. I just scooped a Mark V Accumark 300 WBY on the EE for $1000 10ish days ago. Its a solid 8/10 condition. A $2800 rifle new, for $1000 shipped. We can sit here and argue all day long on something, but its worth what someone is willing to pay for it. But when Accumarks are listed for $1000, or even $1300, a vanguard, no matter the caliber, stock etc, ain't fetching more than that.

To the OP, if this gentleman thinks its worth that, you should sharpen your sales tactic, sell it to him if you wish to sell it.

For what it’s worth I sold one that I had 1.5 years ago, it was unfired and I got $1300 for it.

They’re really quite nice rifles, and a good value for someone looking for a .375 with really good sights, good trigger and a durable nice quality B&C stock.

And they’re cheaper than the other modern similar rifles like a Ruger guide guns or M70’s

At the time I was thinking sell mine the only place I found with any stock was prophet river with one for around IIRC $1400, which sold.

If you’re looking to sell it pick on a price the higher side and lower it weekly and let the market decide on the value. IMO it would sell pretty fast for $1k and you’d probably be able to get a few hundred more. As others have said it’s not your run of the mill Vanguard.

No one is arguing with you.

We can agree on one thing for certain, it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it. OP apparently just bought it, so this is more of an ad than anything

I have no interest in buying a weatherby vanguard of any type, I'm just stating how much they sold for when they were made. Nothing to do with "what I think it's worth" or a used SAKO on a gun rack in SK.

If OP wants to sell it for 750 bucks maybe he can "sharpen his sales tactics" and you can add it to your vanguard collection.

If it was mine and truly in as new condition, I'd put it on the ee for 1100 bucks and be happy with 1000
