Weatherby vanguard s2 base and rings

I have my s2 in 308 and trying to figure which bases to go with. I hear 50/50 for 1 piece base and rings or get them separately. I dont really know to be honest.
Curious to hear what you guys think?
 
I had talleys on mine. They are the base ring combo. I never had any issues with them.
I like those but all my hunting set ups now are steel bases and Burris zee rings. Just my preference. I have spares so it makes sense for me to stick with those.

Yer awn the right track. I've got each set up and prefer the Leupold.
Them Tallies have me noze twitch'n.
 
I used the 2-piece Burris XTB bases on mine so I could use the Burris Signature Zee rings with my 30mm scope. Its a little heavier but I am not to worried about that with this rifle. If you wanted to keep things light then the Talley light weights are great.
 
I have the Talley Lightweights (same as Weatherby's own brand - ring/base all in one) on all four of my VGII's.

Three are low 1" mounts holding 3-9X40 Burris E1's (on two rifles) and a Redfield Revenge 3-9X42 (on my 243) - there is no clearance issue at all with those scopes and the low rings.

I have a Burris Veracity 2-10X42 on my fourth Vanguard II - mounted that with medium 30mm lightweights. Couldn't use the low's due to contact between the bolt handle and the eye bell on that particular model scope - would have been fine with low rings if it was a 60 degree bolt instead of the 90 degree. Otherwise the low's are rated for (typically) up to 44 mm objectives.

I like them and wouldn't mount anything on a VGII without them - so much less to go wrong.

But everyone has their own preferences...
