Weatherby Vanguards are actually made by Howa.
Are they worth it? Only you can answer that. The rifles that are guaranteed to shoot sub MOA are actually selected for that accuracy because not all rifles on a production line with shoot that well. Some extremely expensive top end Weatherby rifles are only guaranteed to shoot 1.5MOA, and that is pyss poor in my book.
The rifle will likely be accurate enough to give you many years of satisfaction shooting groups small enough to allow you to become a better shooter.
It is a poor choice when it comes to upgrades because there are not many after-market accessories made for them such as custom stocks and scope bases. The Howa Action is fairly nice...
It is not a rifle that is designed for target shooting so if that is your ultimate purpose, it will not be a great choice without swapping out to a heavier barrel.
Other than barrels, few parts on firearms "wear-out" with typical use so fear of poor longevity should not be a great concern if you stick with a good rifle brand. Savage, Remington and Tikka all make good rifles that will equal the Weatherby in longevity and have better resale values.
In a nutshell, the Vanguard is as good as any rifle in its price range. It has advantages and disadvantages. If you like it, buy it.
