I'm thinking of buying one of these two scopes Weaver Classic V 2x10x38 or Redfield Rev 4x12x40. I would like everyone's opinions on the two and experiences with either or. I already have Leupolds and Bushnell Elites and I know they will not compare but I want to try these mid priced scopes for a beater rifle. Opinions please!:D

I have a Weaver Classic V9 (3-9x38) that I bought used. I like it and think it would have been good value at the price nomally asked for new ones. I haven't tried one of the new Redfields but the reviews I've read seem to me to suggest it is better value than the Weaver, if only because of the warranty.

I have the Redfield Revolution 4x12x40 and previously I had the 3x9x40. Love them both - very clear, they move on paper exactly where the clicks should place them. The clicks on the Revolutions feel a bit "mushy" but other than that no complaints. They also accept Leupold scope covers / shades / etc. So far I've taken four deer between the two scopes in all kinds of weather, and they've worked great.

For the range i use expensive scope but for hunting the Redfield Revolution is my go to scope, very clear and keep a good zero even on high recoiling rifle, dont know about the Weaver... Cheers. JP.
