Weaver Extension Ring Question

I just mounted a Burris Fulfield II on a Savage 116 using weaver's extension rings. Up front, the scope bearly clears the extension part of the ring. It is very close, but light is visible through. I'm wondering if this would be safe to fire as is? I wouldn't want to damage anything. Thanks.

As long as everything is tight the scope won't move so any clearance is going to be enough.

That is what I thinking also. I did some searching, and all I could find were discussions about scope to barrel clearence. They said as long as nothing was making contact everything was good to go. I guess the same would apply here.
