Hey Nutz:

I've got an old Winchester 1906 in almost mint condition. It's a post 1911
production with a Weaver G4 scope that is mounted off the side of the barrel (just forward of the receiver). see pics below.

The rifle and scope still work well together, but the eye and objective diameters are just less than an inch and are all but useless compared to today's modern optics.

I wonder whether I should remove the scope and if so, does it have any residual value or alternatively, keep it on the rifle if it's more valuable as is?

Any thoughts?

Keep the scope/mount together with the 1906 Winchester, I hate to see D&T'd holes in a gun when I go to buy! Automatically makes the gun worth 50% less right off, but a gun with period scope and mount is worth a whole lot more when it comes to rimefire period collectors, or atleast it does me! The G4 and mount don't have any significant value, maybe $60-$100 at most. Please keep it all together for us who like period appropriate mounted A great gun with a great scopes! cheers Dale Z!
