Have a rifle with a set of Weaver Grand Slam steel bases S45 & S46, does anyone know if they are 6-48 or 8-40 screws? M70 Mauser action.

Then yewld have some spares.![]()
buy a couple of each size and try one or the other it only costs a dollar and you would have your answer
6/48
Thanks, Weaver’s website lists torque specs for the two sizes but doesn’t say what the bases come with. This is on that 9.3 so I want to make sure things are tight, when I got it the action screws weren’t what I’d call tight at all lol.Weaver 45 and 46 bases for me were always 6-48
Assuming they're 1/4" long and some are 3/8"
15 inch Lbs for the torque.
They make oversized 6-48 screws. Thanks, Weaver’s website lists torque specs for the two sizes but doesn’t say what the bases come with. This is on that 9.3 so I want to make sure things are tight, when I got it the action screws weren’t what I’d call tight at all lol.
0.138" vs 0.164" diameter if memory serves. Just measure them. And OK is correct, they make slightly over sized versions for worn receiver threads. - danThanks, Weaver’s website lists torque specs for the two sizes but doesn’t say what the bases come with. I called weaver’s tech support for shíts and giggles and they’re 6-48” screws, so 15in/lbs will do me.0.138" vs 0.164" diameter if memory serves. Just measure them. And OK is correct, they make slightly over sized versions for worn receiver threads. - dan
I need to order some for my Mauser. Back screw holes are getting little loose, and the iron sights I cannot use.0.138" vs 0.164" diameter if memory serves. Just measure them. And OK is correct, they make slightly over sized versions for worn receiver threads. - dan

You didn’t tell me nothing I didn’t already know, I know Weaver uses both sizes.Told ya
Thee 8-40 screws require 18 inch lbs, for future reference..You didn’t tell me nothing I didn’t already know, I know Weaver uses both sizes.![]()
Weaver lists torque values for them both on their site, they just don’t tell you online which screws they come with. Nor do they list it in any of their mounting/instalation pdf’s, I’m sure they have it in the package but I don’t have that.Thee 8-40 screws require 18 inch lbs, for future reference..
