I have a B-Square saddle mount on my 1300 Defender but I find that if I were to attach ghost ring sights on it, the sights would be way too high for my liking.

So my question is: is it possible to drill and tap appropriate holes into a 1300 receiver to allow a weaver rail to be added?

I think I've heard of this being done, but the concern was that the thickness of the metal in the receiver might not be enough to keep the rail on due to the heavy recoil.

I have run into the same problems trying to mount a scope with saddle type mounts on my 1300, I've since settled for Tru Glo sights and bought a Mossberg with cantilever barrel, ported too!
All Mossberg shotgun(new ones) come drilled & tapped.
I can't answer your question on reciever thickness, but I think you might be right on the money with it being too thin?
Good Luck!
