I recently purchased a used gun with a Weaver Roll Off Scope Mount on it. Just wondering if anyone has used one of these and there opinions of them. Are they solid enough to hold the scope in perfect position everytime?

I'm putting a different scope on later this week and debating to put on new a mount and rings with the scope.

I want to go into the bush being confident everytime I go.

Thanks for any help

Mike

Mike, they are actually called pivot mounts, and I have several sets. They work fine.

If the base and ring screws are tight, like on any mounting system, and the tension on the cones where the rings rotate is snug, they will be more than secure enough for hunting. Don't tension the cones too tight. It should be just enough to hold the scope securely while allowing it to rotate. You'll figure it out.

I have actually shot groups at the range while pivoting the scope between shots, and the group size stayed the same as when the scope stayed "snapped" down on the base.

Thanks

That helps put my mind at ease, as the mount really seems solid with the scope on it now. I guess it's probably like everything else if you look after it and treat it well it will last and work properly. I'll check the tension cones though before I make a decision.
