Anyone here using weaver bases on their Sako? The weaver mounting chart lists base #85 as front and rear for a Sako 75 and I'm just wondering how they attach. Every weaver base I've installed has two screws attaching base to the receiver. My Sako 75s have tapered dovetails? Is it doable?

Yes, they fit and work great. On my Finnbear 270 I originally had Sako mounts, but just couldn't keep the scope from moving.
Got the Weaver bases, they tap on the dovetails and never move. Without looking, I forget if there is a setscrew to hold them on, or not.
With the good old Weaver rings the scope(s) have never moved.

I've used them in the past, but I wouldn't tighten those screws down onto the top of the reciever and mark it up. Put something in the bottom of the hole, wadded up paper or a piece of lead shot and just snug up the screws. You don't really need the screws anyway.....the tapered dovetail locks up very tightly....clean the dovetails and the bases well and smack then on with a rap from a small hammer with a piece of nylon or hardwood to keep from marring your bases..........I've had Redfield bases that fit on the same way and they didn't even have screws.
