I want to hear opinions on the quality of weaver scopes. I now own two, a 4x and a 6x and I like them alot. However I have only had them to the range and I would like to know how they stand up in the field.
Thanks.
I've had a few Weavers over the years and currently have a straight 4X rimfire model on my 10/22. They stand up just fine, at least the ones that I own(ed) did.
I own about 20, give or take. All are good scopes, except for one, which doesn't have a quality issue, it just doesn't have the MOA adjustments that I want. Still a good scope though. - dan
I have two of them - an older RV7 (2-7 rimfire) and a newer V7 (2-7). I am very pleased/happy with both of them - the adjustment clicks track correctly, they hold zero just fine, and the glass is excellent for sub-$300 scopes.
i only have one 6x and one 4x weaver at this time. both have been on hard recoiling magnums with no ill effects. i use the 4x for testing new rifles and its been mounted on at least twenty differnt rifles over the years. for the $ i think there a good value.
RCMP Winchester M70 .308 use the 4x Weaver. These ones look old. Glass so so. It's ok. Nothing special. Keep in mind these are old ones and not pampered.
I'm interested in how the target 36x ones perform. I've read a few reviews that liked them especially for the price.
Elpaso Texas made micro- trac Target series weavers are bullet proof, scopes, when turn dials for corrections they never fail.
I added 1/8" at 100y TK lee dots. great scope for testing loads and hunterclass shooting. they work great on 22lr for 100 and + ranges.
you will see them some times on ebay 6x usually go for $225 +
I inherited my grandfather's old Weaver K8 that sits on his old varmint gun. It still is very clear and has a very fine crosshair. Very nice old steel scope. Adjustable objective still works sweet.
I also recently purchased two newer Grand Slams 3x10 by 40mm. Love them both. Quite compact, light weight and rubber coated dials make them nice. In my opinion, these Grand Slams rival other more expensive scopes. The clarity and brightness is very impressive.
