The problem that exists with my Savage 24F is that I want a scope for the rifle and on conventional mounts it would obstruct the sight for the shotgun. So see-through rings are the solution, an acceptable compromise.

I found a set of Weaver's old pivot rings that fit my BSA CF-2 and tried them out of curiousity. They work well.

This situation is what quick detach scope mounts were made for...
 
Ditch the see-thru's in favor of a quality variable mounted low as possible. This will make target acquisition fast without doing the "turtle" up to the scope.

I have some of those, too. Not all work well, but the Leupold QRWs that attach a Weaver V3 Classic on my Mossberg 535 when it has the rifled slug barrel fitted work well. On my Savage 24F they would put the scope in the way of using the iron sights. (The front sight is a bead and the rear is a folding leaf so the front bead works for the shotgun barrel.) The barrel selector is mounted on the hammer so I with see-through rings I just have to use my thumb to select the barrel I want and whichever sight is appropriate it is already available. This is why I use the see-through rings on this gun.
 
I have had see-thru rings on a few guns. My BLR came with them along with a Simmons scope. That set up shot at least a dozen moose and a few dozen deer. Closest shot was 25 yards and longest was 450. As someone said above, its not a bench rest gun so they are not that hard to get use to. The funny thing is, I never ever used the iron sights to shoot any of those critters. I kept the gun set at 2 power and if it was a long shot I turned it up to 7. Even the 25 yard shot was made with the scope, cross hairs went right between the bull mooses peepers. The one time I went to use them the fog was so thick even the iron sights didn't give me a clear shot, so I didn't shoot.

My see thrus were made for the blr and screwed right to the receiver. I would get these kind if you decide to go with them, they should be sturdier than the ones you have pictured in the OP
