Anyone familiar with older Weaver scopes?

Picked up a nice shape Weaver Model "V7" variable [2.5-7 power] blued.

Interested in a little history... what era was it made? ... any experience with them? ... etc...

This scope kinda strikes me as something that maybe belongs on a Pre '64 Winchester Model 70 or something...

I've got a few of the old steel-tube Weavers, and they do look "right" on a classic rifle. That blued finish looks great. Optically they're nothing to get excited about, but they seem to hold up well from a mechanical standpoint. I've had a couple that got cloudy over the years...not talking about fogging from moisture, none have that problem...just a general milky, indistinct look to them. Don't know what it is.

I love using them for fun shooting, but for serious hunting trips (i.e. away from home) I want a modern glass.

Thanks for the reply. And I agree about modern glass on a serious hunt. But I bought this little gem very reasonable at a show last weekend. I figured it could go on a .22 or something. Love the fine cross hairs on it...
