From my Dad's and Uncles guns, a Webley NO. 5, 360 cal. This has always been registered as prohibited, I think it should be an antique, made before 1898 and caliber is 360. Can you guys help me, what is the deal on getting this
deregistered. Thanks for all help. whether I sell it or keep, I want it in the right category. Thanks John

Hi: Have wore out my computer skills this morning and searched every thing Webley that i can find, and can not find any mention of the No 5 with that bobbed hammer and no sights. One other question , it does have hole in butt for ring, I wonder was it supposed to have one. I will appreciate any comments and or any advice on getting it to antique status. Thanks much John

Well you may think it should be an antique but the RCMP think otherwise. It is not just the date of manufacture that creates antique status. The RCMP FRT presently shows 4 versions of this gun, 3 being prohibited(76/89/102mm) and the 4th as restricted with a 114mm bbl. The FRT number is 23361-x, with the x being determined by barrel length.
On an interesting side note, it shows in the footnotes that SOME examples of this model, when manufactured prior to 1898, are considered antique in Canada. But, there is no mention of what those models are so you may have to call the powers to be and see what determines an antique for this model.
