I have a Webely No5 in 360CF. It is registered as a 38 S&W. Now that I realize the mistake, I also relalize that it is an antique and need not be registered.

I have been able to find out a bit about the calibre. The case is a bit fatter than a 38Spl and a bit shorter.

360 CF Rook

SPECIFICATIONS

Bullet Diameter:
.367 in.

Max Overall Length:
1.375 in.

Case Capacity (est):
21.0 gr. water

NOMINAL PERFORMANCE (In a rifle)

Bullet Weight:
134 gr

Muzzle Velocity:
1025 fps

Muzzle Energy:

The feds say they have little info on the Webley No5 and need manufacturing dates before they can de-register. Can anyone help?

Do you have one with a later serial number that has been classed as an antique?

I did a quick "google" and came up with a thread on the British Military Forums. Doesn't answer your question but if no one else here can help, it might be worth posting your question there. GrantR (Grant Rombough), who is also an occas. CGN poster and who contributed to that thread, would likely be a good source of info. He may even have a revolver like yours, and if so, being a Canadian, would have the required official information to keep the CFC happy.

Thanks. I will check there.

Edit: I did, and got this response. Good news for those with solid frame Webleys.

"Hello,

I will tell you what has been relayed to me by Joel Black (and is also printed in his book on Webley revolvers) and that is: All Webley revolvers with a solid frame, not break open, their frames were either purchased by or manufactured by Webley prior to the end of 1893 thus making ALL solid frame revolvers antique. Webley did assemble the solid frame revolvers all the way into the 1930's, but being as the frames are what is considered the actual firearm (in the US at least) they all qualify as antique."
