Does anyone know if wood grips were ever issued, or made commercially, for this great old revolver, or were there just the black plastic ones which crack easily? Are any modern rubber grips available? The grips on my 1915 Webley are not cracked, but I just wondered.

Don't forget to splice the mainbrace tomorrow on October 21, 2005-the 200th anniversary of Lord Nelson's victory at Trafalgar. Hearts of Oak!

Wood grips were available on some commercial models, but I don't know if any were made for the Mk6. Certainly not for the service revolver.
Actualy calling the grips you have plastic in the modern sense of the word is incorrect. Vulcanite is more like it. The .380 revolver had plastic grips later on.
Nobody makes wood grips for the revolver, but

does make replacements for what you have, and lots of other Webleys

Don't drop it on a concrete floor and the grips won't crack. I should think that if the grips are still in one piece since1915, they are really not that fragile.
